Follow the case of 24-year-old Michael who has had several trips to A&E recently with exacerbations of his asthma.

This patient case scenario is fictional.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, healthcare professionals should be able to:
  • Describe how to teach a patient to use their inhaler correctly
  • Review suitable devices for a patient with asthma who is not adhering to the medication regime
  • Understand the challenges in selecting an appropriate device that the patient will use
  • Discuss appropriate follow-up when changes have been made to a patient’s treatment regime.
