Programme Description

Dr Mark Griffiths outlines the aetiology, prevalence, symptoms and signs of psoriasis. Key learning points include characteristics of different types of psoriasis, the risk of development of psoriatic arthritis, and the comorbidities that may occur in patients with psoriasis. Pictorial case studies are presented for discussion.

This module, based on a presentation at MIMS Clinical Update 2016, is delivered in an audiovisual format. You can play the presentation at a time to suit you, pause and continue as needed. A CPD certificate is awarded for completing this module.

Educational Objectives

After taking this activity, healthcare professionals should be better able to:
  • Recognise different types of psoriasis
  • Understand the use of PASI scores and DLQI questionnaire
  • Reflect on the impact of psoriasis on patients’ lives
  • Recall the risks of cardiovascular disease and venous thromboembolism associated with psoriasis
  • Prescribe potent or very potent topical corticosteroids appropriately
  • Provide and refer for individualised therapy according to patients’ needs
