Programme Description

This activity discusses the role of plant sterols as part of healthy lifestyle changes for reducing cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in developing coronary heart disease (CHD).

Educational Objectives

After taking this exam, clinicians should be better able to:
  • Describe the risk factors for CHD
  • Identify patients at risk of CHD
  • Discuss options for healthy eating and lifestyle changes with patients
  • Explain the mode of action of plant sterols and be able to discuss the benefits with patients
