Programme Description

Dr Anne Dornhorst provides a guide to use of newer therapies for type 2 diabetes, and looks at forthcoming developments. This module consists of presentation slides and audio from a presentation at the Mims Clinical Update conference.

Educational Objectives

After taking this activity, healthcare professionals should be better able to:
  • Tailor glycaemic targets to individual patients with type 2 diabetes
  • Initiate appropriate double and triple antihyperglycaemic therapy
  • Follow a sequential insulin strategy for patients with type 2 diabetes
  • Match use of thiazolidinediones, injectable GLP-1 receptor agonists, DPP-4 inhibitors and SGLT-2 inhibitors to patients’ needs
  • Advise patients on the risks and benefits of treatment with thiazolidinediones (glitazones), and incretin mimetics
