Gwen Hall explains how to initiate and monitor insulin in general practice. This module consists of presentation slides and audio from a presentation at the Mims Clinical Update conference.

  • Demonstrate awareness of safe prescribing of insulin
  • Review individual patients to see if they would benefit from insulin
  • Know the HbA1c levels at which insulin should be started
  • Plan for titrating insulin dosage upwards as needed
  • Tailor insulin type and frequency to individual patient need
