Programme Description

Dr Rob Hampton describes how to implement the latest NICE guidance on spondyloarthritis. The module outlines what’s new in the guidance and what GPs should do differently in their practice to diagnose, refer and manage axial, psoriatic or peripheral spondyloarthritis.

Educational Objectives

After taking this module, GPs and nurses will be better able to:
  • Recall what’s new and what’s relevant to them in the February 2017 NICE guidance on spondyloarthritis
  • Know which tests are recommended in diagnosing axial spondyloarthritis
  • Describe the criteria that merit a referral to rheumatology for suspected axial spondyloarthritis
  • List the symptoms that require referral for suspected psoriatic or peripheral spondyloarthritis
  • Advise patients about the pharmaceutical management of spondyloarthritis
  • Carry out quality improvement activities relating to spondyloarthritis
