Dr Neil Losson describes the changes to NICE guidance on managing anaemia in patients with CKD and explains how to implement them. The module outlines what's new in the guidance, how to accurately diagnose anaemia, and how to effectively treat the condition.

Educational Objectives

After completing this module, GPs and nurses will be better able to:
  • Understand the changes to the June 2015 update to NICE guidance on anaemia in CKD
  • Know what to do differently in practice in the light of the NICE guidance
  • Accurately diagnose anaemia in patients with CKD and establish whether CKD is the cause
  • Assess iron status in an anaemic patient with CKD

  • Know when to refer for specialist treatment
