Programme Description

In the third of a series, Dr Ravi Assomull and Dr Sayan Sen present steps 6 to 10 of a 10-step system for successful ECG interpretation in primary care. Key learning points include a refresher on the component waveforms of the ECG complex, and identifying common abnormalities.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, GPs and nurses should be better able to:
  • Recall the characteristics of the ECG complex and specific segments and intervals
  • Interpret ECGs using a systematic step-by-step approach
  • Understand how common abnormalities may be identified
  • Recognise patterns indicating atrial enlargement, left or right bundle branch block, and left ventricular hypertrophy
